Matthew (25, Donegal), James (24, Wexford), Daryl (26, Kildare), Cathal (22, Dublin) CEOL is a new ballad band from all over Ireland with a passion for folk music. Founded and managed by Nathan Carter and Liam McKenna Taking inspiration from The Dubliners, The Chieftains, Mumford and Sons, and many other outstanding Irish and international artists before them, Ceol aims to bring folk music to a new generation. Nathan Carter said: “The idea came to me when I traveled around Ireland and saw so many talented young musicians singing and playing in pubs every night of the week. I thought there is an opening here for a great young band who play a mix of old folk songs with a contemporary modern twist. CEOL got together in mid-2021, after a nationwide search from more than 1,000 people. They have been writing and recording throughout the autumn and winter of 2021. CEOL performed their first-ever live gigs supporting Nathan Carter in front of 5,000 fans over2 nights at the Waterfront in Belfast. Within 6 weeks of joining TikTok, they have amassed over1 a million views, making them Ireland’s fastest-growing debut music artist on the platform. They released their debut single “The Mermaid” in January 2022 and will be touring throughout the year.
